I was catching ...Great minds do indeed think alike. I was catching up on my blogs AFTER I wrote my post...and I agree wholeheartedly. Here, in the States, you never hear religious, real Christmas carols anywhere. I am not religious, but growing up in England we learned and sang them at concerts. This meant that, for me, it's a big memory associated with the holiday. The amount of canned, horrendous music that pumps out EVERYWHERE cheapens the meaning of Christmas more, and ruins memories I had as a kid.
It's interesting, and perhaps a little sad, that the rampant consumerism and crazy purchasing mentality isn't limited to America alone. This makes me sad. It's humanity that has experienced a depressing mental shift, not individual countries. So I guess all you can do is hope to not perpetuate the ugliness.

Long comment, sorry :)

I think that's great your let your girls decorate the tree - my mom wouldn't let us touch the (handed down!) ornaments when we were kids haha and she LOVED hanging the tinsel just right (although it would inevitably end up behind the couch for years afterwards...miriamhttp://www.themerryrunner.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5861053677041266898.post-80452773860059204562012-12-20T12:23:31.316-05:002012-12-20T12:23:31.316-05:00Thanks, Scott, and all the best to you and your fa...Thanks, Scott, and all the best to you and your family.
