This Sunday will mark the second Mother's Day under the pandemic lockdown. For the second time, I won't be able to give my mom a hug and spend some quality, face-to-face time together.
But I've made plans to do something special with her—as special as can be, from a distance.
In a way, we're lucky. We have the technology to see and speak to each other. Though my siblings live in various parts of Ottawa, this province, or in North America, we can all get together, online, to celebrate our mother.
And everybody's healthy. Most of us have had our shots or are on track to get the vaccine.
But we will have the other mother in my life who will be with me. And her kids will also be with us.
To all the mom's out there, I hope you have a Happy Mother's Day. And, with any luck, we'll be able to celebrate, face-to-face, next year.
