Fifteen Years Ago

Seven years ago, I almost completely pulled the plug on The Brown Knowser. But with the encouragement of many of my readers, I kept going.

Fifteen years ago, today, the first Brown Knowser blog post was published and I really didn’t know where I was going to go with it. DW had suggested creating it after my first blog, Brownfoot Journal, was getting more readers than from just friends and family. She wanted our family life to be separated from other things I wrote about, even though I would still talk about our family on this blog.

I avoided (mostly) giving too many personal details on this blog.

Fifteen years ago, this blog was just called The Other Blog. I didn’t have a proper name for more than a week, until DW suggested the name I use to this day. I’m now known as The Brown Knowser on this blog site, my YouTube channel, on social media platforms, and at various karaoke venues around the city.

I like the name.

Today is the 3,353rd post. I have almost 2.1 million views, more than I ever thought this small blog about nothing important would ever earn.

It’s all because of you, my readers. For that, I thank you.

As I enter my 16th year for The Brown Knowser, I don’t know what lies ahead. I’ll still continue with regular posts, like Wordless Wednesday and Photo Friday (mixed with the occasional Friday Fiction). Several years ago, I invited readers to be guest posters, and I’ve only had a couple in all this time.

I’d like to remind you that guest posts are still welcome. Reach out if you have an idea for a post.

The past 15 years has gone quickly, for the most part. I can’t say that The Brown Knowser will be around for another 15 years—heck, I can’t even guarantee that I’ll be around for 15 more years. But I hope that I continue to write posts that you’ll enjoy.

Cheers to 15 years, and to you.
