The Flag

Usually, we Canadians aren't big flag-wavers.

We love our country but don't scream at the top of our lungs, "We're Number One!" Not like some noisy neighbours we know.

Still, we're proud of who we are and where we come from. We've made lots of serious mistakes over the past 159 years but we strive to be a good, just society.

We'll get there.

I think that more now than ever, we have to celebrate Canada Day with pride. We need to show the world that we're True North, strong, and free. Together, we can achieve much more than if we were fragmented.

We will never be anybody's 51st anything.
