Where In Ottawa: September 2013

Even though it's Labour Day in Canada (Labor Day, in the USA), I couldn't let the first Monday of the month go without my Where In Ottawa challenge.

If you're new to this game, here are the rules:
  1. Below is a photo that was shot somewhere in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Your job is to identify the location of where the photo was shot.
  2. If you know where the photo was shot, leave your response in the Comments section of this post. No Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or e-mail message will count, nor will I respond to any guess that is made in any manner other than one left in the Comments section of this post.
  3. The first person to correctly identify the location in the photograph will win the challenge.
  4. If you were with me when the photo was taken, you cannot play the game.
  5. If you have won a Where In Ottawa challenge in the past, you may still participate, but there will be no reward for your efforts, other than bragging rights.
  6. If you correctly identify the location and have not won a Where In Ottawa challenge in the past, I will send you a PDF copy of my novel, Songsaengnim: A Korea Diary.
Ready for this month's challenge?

Starting tomorrow, a clue will appear at the top of the upper-right column of this blog and will be posted on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter every day until the location is correctly identified.

That's it. Think you know Ottawa? Prove it!

And good luck.

UPDATE:

Where In Ottawa has been solved. This "Posh Park" location, as the only clue suggested, is the pavilion at Rockliffe Park. This park is one of the oldest in Ottawa and is situated along the Rockliffe Parkway, between the Prime Minister's residence and the residence of the U.S. ambassador. The land was once owned by Thomas McKay, a master stonemason who built the Rideau Canal and Rideau Hall.

Congratulations to Russ Senior, my good friend, for solving this month's challenge. It's kind of fitting that Russ receives a copy of my novel, Songsaengnim: A Korea Diary, as he and I first met in South Korea. One of the characters that is in the upcoming sequel, Gyeosunim, is based on my buddy.

Speaking about the sequel, I'm currently rewriting the whole thing: stay tuned.

Where In Ottawa returns Monday, October 7.
