Better Together
I'm so glad that Albertans overwhelmingly chose to stay in Canada. Monday's referendum vote results indicated that 76.4 percent of voters said no to holding a future separation referendum.
I hope that if Québec ever chooses to hold another referendum that they receive a similar resounding No.
There were still more than 278,000 Albertans who wanted to hold a separation referendum, and to me that's far too many people. I expect many of them will continue to hold rallies and stir shit, denouncing Canada.
I have a solution for these sore losers: leave.
If you're not part of Canada's indigenous population, that means either you or your ancestors left a country to try to make a better life elsewhere. Either because of war, or famine, or for lack of employment or other economic reasons, people chose Canada because they felt they had better opportunities and a brighter future.
Those ancestors didn't come to Canada to change this country or to break it up. They wanted to prosper in a country that was already prospering.
So, to the people who aren't happy with their situation in Canada, who want to improve their quality of life, I have this to say.
Seek out a better life, if you can find it. Leave Canada. If you thought you could broker a deal with the United States, whose felonious president is trying to turn this country into his country's 51st state, just go there. Live in the U.S.
The majority of Albertans have spoken, and they're not interested in trying to break up this beautiful country. I thank all of those who showed up at the polls to say that they want Canada to stay together, as is.
To the 23.6 percent who wanted out of Canada, no one's stopping you. Go.
